The Dan Dare Corporation owns the global media rights to the 'Eagle' comic and the comic
strip 'Dan Dare'. The company also owns the rights to several other comic strips published in the Eagle including 'Ghost Squad', 'Computer Warrior', 'Doomlord', 'Manix', 'Stormforce' and 'Ultimate Warrior'.

Dan Dare is the most successful comic character in the history of publishing in the United Kingdom. The comic strip appeared in full colour on the front and inside page of the The Eagle comic in the 1950s and 60s.

The creator of the comic was a young highly skilled and imaginative English artist called Frank Hampson. He was dedicated to following on from H.G.Wells and Jules Verne, in the highly successful world of popular science fiction. Hampson viewed The Eagle as the only competition at the time, to successful imported American comics like Superman and Spiderman. He produced breathtaking, extraordinary artwork together with highly imaginative storylines, that totally gripped the readers. Within days of being launched, the comic, totalling 20 pages, 8 of which were in full colour, was selling nearly a million copies a week. The comic industry had never seen success like it before in the UK.

At the time of developing the character of Dan Dare, Frank Hampson was quoted as saying "In the strip I tried to show a clear difference between good and evil. I preferred Dan Dare to prevail by intelligence, common sense and sheer determination". He certainly succeeded. Dan Dare has now become one of the greatest English comic strip icons of all time.

The comic strip was also influential in other ways. Gerald Scarfe and David Hockney had their first works published in The Eagle.

Following the highly successful launch in 130 countries of the 26 part Television Series in CGI animation, with music by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, the legend of Dan Dare continues to entertain on a global scale.
